Why I love Ace of Cakes

When I'm not watching TV, and working, and being a mom, etc. etc. etc, I really like to decorate cakes. Watching Duff and his team on Ace of Cakes makes me weak in the knees. I could only dream of creating such works of genius. I'm a hobby cake decorator, not a trained professional..

The episode this week had a cake for Sir Roger Moore's 80th birthday (how cool is that?), a Girl Scout Cookie cake, a Linda Blair/Exorcist/Head Spinning cake... amazing.

Other than the beauty of the cakes, I love the way the show is produced. It shows the humor and the personalities of the bakers and cake decorators so well. It makes Charm City Cakes look like a really fun (if stressful) place to work.

And heck, I do love it when Duff pulls out the power tools.

Hi, Astrid! Check you out with your new blog and all these posts already! I have to tell you that I came straight here on Thursday when we didn't get the AI results show because of Tivo conflicts (Lost, maybe?). It's great to have it all here in once place!

And we love Ace of Cakes, too. Even the kids love it. The cakes are so amazing, so detailed, it blows me away. And it seems like it would be a great work environment. Fun, encouraging, challenging. I love seeing what they come up with every show.

Oh, I should probably say that I'm Janelle (jfine) from the March (and Bargain) board, in case you didn't figure that out. I always feel like I know everyone on my boards, but at the same time I assume that no one has a clue who I am. Just in case!

Hey Astrid! Long time, no speak. My fiancee was at Trader Joe's (an Onion River Co-Op type chain down here in the Mid-Atlantic) on Thursday and she ran into Geoff from Ace of Cakes. She said that the camera really must add ten pounds because he's a scrawny little cuss. Anyway, I hope all is well with you and yours.

Nice to "see" you, Frank! Hope that yo enjoy my blog! One of my friends lives in Baltimore.. I shipped her a cake last year for her 30th birthday, and I told her this year maybe she could just get one from Charm City... a bit pricier than mine, that's for sure!!
